REVIEW: Forensic – Radhika Apte and Vikrant Massey’s murder mystery

Forensic is a loose remake of the Malayalam movie of the same name. Although forensic has a high thrill factor, it sometimes seems to take on too much. Radhika Apte is once again portraying the stressed-out professional woman.

Vishal Furia, the filmmaker of Chhorii, a previous thriller that caused some controversy, is back with Forensic, with Radhika Apte and Vikrant Massey in the key roles. In Forensic, which is set in Mussoorie’s hills, a serial murderer goes around killing defenceless children on their birthdays. Radhika Apte plays the role of a righteous cop, and one of India’s top forensic experts, Johnny Khanna, is played by Vikrant Massey.

In Mussoorie, young girls are going missing on their birthdays and then turning up as dismembered bodies. Megha (Radhika Apte), a police officer, grudgingly agrees to work with Johnny (Vikrant Massey), a forensic expert and her ex-boyfriend, to investigate the crime. Another connection between Megha and Johnny is that their older siblings were formerly wed until a tragedy forced their divorce. This has prevented Johnny’s brother Abhay (Rohit Bose Roy) from getting to know his daughter Aanaya (Harbandana Kaur).

When the bodies keep piling up even after the alleged kidnapper was apprehended, Megha’s problems worsen. Johnny and Megha are guided to the offender by Johnny’s forensic investigation and a few opportune events.
