REVIEW: PlanA PlanB – Cliched Rom-Com with nothing to offer -

The lead actors deliver their best performances but, shaky screenplay failed their valiant effort.

An uptight divorce lawyer, and a match-maker with a broken heart is a formulaic rom-com that failed to deliver the feel-good factor that is expected out of this genre.

Plan A Plan B, which is currently streaming on Netflix, is directed by Shashanka Ghosh (Khoobsurat, Veere Di Wedding) and written by Rajat Aroraa (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, The Dirty Picture) and tells a facile story about a matchmaker/marriage counsellor/psychologist who works out of a shared workspace that also houses the office of an on-the edge divorce lawyer.

Director Shashanka Ghosh’s previous ventures include Khoobsurat, Veere Di Wedding, while writer Rajat Aroraa contributed to Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and The Dirty Picture. So, where did everything go wrong, you ask? Well, NETFLIX. A perfect example of what can happen when quantity is prioritised instead of quality content. This is where Prime Video wins.

Despite establishing lead actors with opposite characters, one can sense the twist from a long distance, which actually doesn’t add any substance to the story arch.

This might work in parts for Netflix as it falls under “unscripted” shows like Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Indian Matchmaking, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, In Real Love, and Social Currency.
